My work as a photojournalist leads me to interesting places and things, but it is the people I meet along the way that intrigue me most. I view my portrait and documentary photography as a record of the trust and rapport I build with the subject, whether it is part of a long term project or a one-time chance encounter. I've taken this desire to make meaningful connections with my photographic subjects into my work as an educator and art therapist. I believe that all of these roles are interwoven with the common threads of empathy, curiosity, inquiry, creation and communication.
